Trapezoidal Screws and Nuts
Applications
• Transmission of rotational to linear motions
• Generation of linear motions
• Clamping operations, adjusting movements
• Drive for linear units
• Precise linear positioning
• Lifting and pulling of loads.
• Stainless steel screws can be used together with bronze nuts for seawater-
resistant drives
Features / advantages
We offer:
• Trapezoidal screws TR10x3 to TR60x9 made of steel and stainless steel, one start, with right-hand or left-hand thread
• Matching nuts with round or hexagonal outer contours, made of steel, bronze or stainless steel, and bronze flange nuts
• Trapezoidal screws sold by length, in standard sizes, made of steel, mostly deliverable from stock, cut to length up to max. 3000 mm according to customer request
• Other dimensions, multi-start screws and end machining according to drawings are available on request
• Lubrication is required
• The material combinations (steel/steel, steel/stainless steel and stainless steel/stainless steel) tend to seize! For frequent movements and/or high loads, we recommend using nuts made of bronze
• Due to the friction within their trapezoidal thread, trapezoidal screw drives with low pitch (pitch angle less than 3°) ensure a self-locking function. So, when the screw is mounted vertically, an upwardly moving load remains in position and is not drawn back down by gravity. Larger pitch angles, shocks or vibrations reduce the effectiveness of this self-locking function
• Reduced efficiency compared to ball screw set
• Note that screws can buckle when installed vertically and placed under pressure or lifting loads
