safety brakes are designed for mounting on the free shaft end. They provide a secure hold and can brake moving masses or loads from moving. In the event of a power failure, in the event of a fault or if the servo brake in the drive motor fails, the ROBA-stop®-M brakes hold the axis in any position and thus prevent uncontrolled dropping or falling. This not only protects the worker from injury, but also the drive, the tools and the workpieces to be machined from damage.
The ROBA-stop®-M brake is an electromagnetic safety brake actuated by quiescent current.
In de-energised condition, coil springs press against the armature disk. The rotor is held between the armature disk and the respective screw-on surface of the machine. The shaft is braked via the toothed hub.
When the current is switched on, a magnetic field is built up. The armature disk is pulled against the coil carrier against the spring pressure. The rotor is free and the shaft can rotate freely.
After switching off the current, in the event of a power failure or in the event of an EMERGENCY STOP, the brake brakes reliably and safely.
