A spirit receiver allows the distiller to analyse and manage the spirit coming out of a pot still without the need to touch the spirit itself. Generally, spirit receivers are large glass walled containers, usually brass containers used in distilleries to produce scotch whisky. These containers are locked to ensure compliance with customs and excise.
