The fiber optic modules of the LW series each consist of a transmitter and a receiver. The LW217 converts SSI signals into light waves and sends them to the LW218 receiver module. This converts the light waves back into absolute values.

LW217 = transmitter
LW218 = receiver

The fiber optic modules LW217 and LW218 have an optical wavelength of 1300 nm and are capable of transmitting signals over a distance of 2000m.
