The FAE electromagnetic brake is basically formed by the inductor core, with the coil and friction material incorporated and the induced assembly, composed of the induced disk itself with a spring-membrane, and the induced support bushing, the inductor core is centered in relation to the Y-axis is fixed to the machine bed. The dimension “a” indicated in the table must be respected during assembly.
When a voltage (normalized to 24 V dc) is applied to the coil, a magnetic field is formed that attracts the induced disk, causing a deformation in the spring-membrane, which compensates the air gap “a”, producing friction between them, braking . When the current is removed, the part 5 recovers its original position, stopping the braking and without residual torque.
The FAE electromagnetic brake must take care that the two friction surfaces are free of grease or oil, since their presence reduces the braking torque.
These units require a small number of actuations for the torque to reach its nominal value. Drill holes of approx. 30% larger than the heads of the rivets 6 to hide their presence.
Characteristics:
Compatible with most manufacturers.
Small dimensions.
Possibility of supplying power supply with adjustable voltage.
The FAE electromagnetic brake can be used for different types of machinery such as:
