The AGFO products are négative brakes designed and tested for use in conjunction with orbital hydraulic motors, ei/en if they are also suitable for other applications. The most important features are the compactness, the wide choice of braking torques and safety. Basically, they are composed by a sériés of stator dises interleaved with rotating dises included between two external plates. Through some springs externat plates are kept pressed against the disk pack thus generating a strong fricb'on between ail surfaces of the dises, thereby blocking rotation of the shaft. To release the braking, there is a hydraulic piston
which, by pressing on the springs, moves the outer plates awayfrom each other.
Therefore, with the lack of pressure in the piston the brake is activated. In this way, it is sure that in rest conditions or with the machine off, braking is always présent.
Brake identification
To make the correct choice of the most suitable brake, first of ail find the following parameters: maximum required braking torque, available pressure for brake release and radial load applied to the shaft at the brake outlet. Based on these criteria y ou
can easily identify which model is the most suitable. It have to start by looking for the required braking torque; by the relative table then it must be checked whether the pressure indicated for the release is available in the System and présent at any time.
