AC Drive Business with World’s Top Market Share
In 1974, Yaskawa released the world’s first transistor AC drive, and in February 2014, the total number of AC drives shipped by us reached 20 million as the first in the industry.
Up until now, we as a pioneer of motor control, have developed many world’s first innovative drive technologies, such as vector control, digital control, and IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) drive. As a result of these technological developments, our products have penetrated far and wide throughout the industry as the de facto standard (global standard), greatly contributing to increasing factory productivity, energy savings, and reducing CO2 emissions.
In recent years, Yaskawa has have taken a proactive approach in proceeding with entry into new businesses by expanding its long-held power conversion technologies through the development of AC drives, such as next-generation drive systems of high power density using SiC (Silicon Carbide) and next-generation PV inverters incorporating a GaN (gallium nitride) power semiconductor module as the world’s first, to the field of environment and energy, including photovoltaic power generation, wind/hydro power generation, and electric vehicles.
Yaskawa is also expanding the field of application of large-capacity medium-voltage drives, such as Japan’s first series-connected multilevel PWM medium-voltage inverters and the world’s only series-connected multilevel medium-voltage matrix converters, which are world-leading technologies and products.
